Fashion Trend: Ripped Jeans

An item in every rocker’s closet, ripped jeans have found favour
amongst the non-musically inclined and can be seen on nearly everyone
these days. Click or swipe through to see more of this laidback trend.
Pictured is Shakira, a huge fan of denim and ripped jeans in particular.
The Colombian singer is often spotted in ripped denim, here she rocks the frayed look with leather fringe and loose hair.
The latest way to wear ripped jeans is to wear them excessively
ripped. A slash at the knees with some threads hanging simply does not
suffice; you need to literally cut out rectangular panels of denim from
the front of the jeans as singer Eliza Doolittle shows here. Be careful
as this look clearly highlights the knees, so if yours aren’t the
greatest, this may be a trend you prefer to pass on.
The new ripped jeans are a throwback to ’90s grunge, think
mid-to-low rise, and a relaxed fit. Don’t cut up your skinny jeans, this
is a baggier look as expertly modelled by Victoria’s Secret Candice
Swanepoel.
Keep the look easy and relaxed as Cameron Diaz does with flat sandals and a white t-shirt.
Kendall Jenner captures the ’90s look perfectly in her ripped jeans outfit.
Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar’s jeans are too snug for the
excessively ripped jeans look, but she manages to pull off a ripped
jeans look with just two moderate slashes.
Black ripped jeans pair well with leather as worn here by
Kim Kardashian.
Actress Gemma Chan passes on excessively ripped jeans opting for a frayed ankle-length look that sets off her loafers.
Another fan of the black denim and leather, Cheryl Cole lightens up her look with some animal print heels.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wears her frayed skinnny jeans with suede heels.
